Agreed - when we look at the career of someone like Nancy O'Dell, we immediately think of success. However, consider the fact that she went through similar times of uncertainty, and is now able to reflect on it today. It took various career changes to reach where she ultimately is now, and it wasn't after 2 years of working.
We really won't know now when we will have the kids, the house or the killer savings because, as Nancy said, "you have to feel things out and allow yourself to be led because you will know what feels right based on your past."
We are really just starting this Quarterlife - and we'll have to work together to define it and help each other.

That said - we really like to hear from you and what you want to read, and what you will feel is beneficial content to our Generation

I appreciate that she did this interview, etc. but this is not even close to what I, and most other Gen Y-ers I know, are facing. Joblessness, massive debt, no fame like she has or name recognition or the kind of connections.

I am "fortunate" to have a job...yes indeed, a marketing support position more than TWO years after completing my MBA...and I know I am not alone...we are facing 50 year olds for our Management positions, who are taking those jobs and working for the wages we should be making because their prospects have all dried up. So we work for pennies, as assistants, etc. for much longer than we should, we have no real savings...when do we buy a house? Start a family? I cant even think about that right now on my salary and with my student loans. I feel like the boomers sold us up the river, got us into all this debt and are now staying in jobs because their retirement is going by wayside.

Sigh. I sound like such a downer, but there really is NO discussion on how the job market is c=going to affect the US economy in the future, with GenY-ers unable to really get a foothold. I mean, if I lose my job within the next couple of years, I'd have to move back in with my parents...not good.

It's grea that O'Dell has found success, but so many of us are struggling in the real world, one that does not include beauty pageants, etc.
